We’ve been around awhile in the winery business. We started the winery in January of 2006, and opened our wine shop a few months later in April. We have seen a lot, done a lot, worked a lot and enjoyed a lot of wine. Family owned, we are true vignerons – we make wine from grapes we grow. Simply, we are farmers who like to make good wine.
Our wine shop is open daily. Come by for a tasting of our wines, and leave with a few of your favourites. We’re located right off of highway 97 south, about halfway between Oliver and Osoyoos, B.C.
Partners in life and winemaking – Castoro de Oro Estate Winery is co-owned and operated by Bruno Kelle and Stella Schmidt.
Born and raised in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Bruno moved west over twenty years ago. He likes music, playing guitar, and spending time with his three kids. When he’s not busy making wine, you’ll find him in the yard playing soccer with their Welsh Terrier Walnut, or relaxing with a glass of wine on the patio.
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Stella likes gardening, reading, music, and playing with Walnut. Stella grew up breeding and training dogs, focusing on Welsh Terriers. Walnut is not only her self-described ‘sanity break’, but their winery-guest greeter as well.
Dropped by Castoro de Oro and to my delight Stella had some new releases in the tasting room! A taste of their new Radiant Rhapsody and I was hooked. Slightly sweet, very crisp with a burst of citrus! This one is definitely on my list of favourites. Thank you Stella and Bruno!
Castoro de Oro Merlot: “The captivating nose exhibits violets, fig, cherry, prune, dark chocolate and red meat. The intriguing palate packs richly-concentrated dried fruit, cassis and velvety tannins with a note of bitter almond on the finish.”
Castoro de Oro Pinot Noir: "The wine begins with aromas of spicy cherries. On the palate, there are flavours of cherry, strawberry and cloves. This medium-bodied, elegant wine has developed the classic silky texture of good Pinot Noir. 90."
Our philosophy is to make 100% B.C. wines at the best value possible, so you can enjoy award winning wines any day of the week. This means you don’t have to save award winning wines for special occasions.
Our winery is accessible right off the highway – pull in for a taste of our latest selections. Enjoy a glass on the patio and take in the view of the valley. Our winery dog Walnut loves making new friends, but we ask that pets be kept on leash.
